 On November 7th, a tanker crashed, spilling 58,000 gallons of oil into the entrance of the San Francisco Bay. As of this Playa Painting 2 weeks later workers were still picking up oil and dead birds. There are estimates that the ecosystem won't fully recover for 10 years...And this is only a small spill compared to the ones that happen around the world at an alarmingly frequent rate. The ocean, despite its vastness, is imperiled on multiple fronts. The basis for a new project is forming... |

 An epic day- beautiful sunny sky, warm winds, setting sun. And a new cove to work in, one that is perfect for low tide days. I'm looking forward to doing more here. This design is a Southwest Native American labyrinth symbol found etched and painted on rock. I'll report back more specifically about the symbol. Essentially, however, like all labyrinth symbols throughout practically all cultures, it has only one path with many curves and changes, representing our life journey. While I was there a group of folks came by to walk its entirety- I was impressed- its a large design- 80 feet across.

 This year I attempted something new- using a system to create a design anamorphically. Essentially this means that from above the image looks stretched out, but from the right perspective, it looks perfect. Generally my images look perfect from directly above but stretched out from the camera position. It was a good test of the system, which proved to be more technical then I was expecting. |
